Dear family of Tom Spoerner,
Throughout decades of being colleagues in AEAI, Tom was dedicated to the art education community in Indiana. Tom was a giver, with a smile for all at every annual state conference. Tom is remembered fondly and with admiration.
Sincerely,
Marilyn Hanson, retired art educator
Valparaiso High School

Sharon, please know that I am thinking of you during such a sad time. It was an honor being one of Tom's nurses. He was such a kind gentleman and I'm sure you will miss him. Bruce and Sandy informed me of his passing and I'm so sorry for your loss. Love and prayers for peace & comfort from me to you!

William, Amy & Emily and family,
So sorry to hear of the passing of your father/grandfather. Over the years, I recall how you spoke of times with your father & mother at various family events and how you looked forward to those times with them and others in the family. Words can't adequately convey our sorrow for your loss, but please know that we are lifting you and all of your family up in prayer as you walk through this difficult time.
In His Love,

Hi Sharon and family! Had to say how sad about Tom! Our families were friends and that lasted our whole life. He had a warm smile and was always fun to be with and was way up on the list of neat people we have known! High school, college, frat brothers and working together at the city park department. Eunie and I followed Tom through his school years and remember visiting him at Peabody.
Our condolences and hope the memory that you have of him will help you through this. We will miss that smile and special way of being Tom, our friend!

I am so sad at the passing of my dear friend Tom. The times we spent together were casual and stress free either on the golf course or going and coming to a golf outing. He laughed at my corny jokes and we talked about when we were young. I was so privileged to hear about his life and the things he'd done with Sharon and the kids,,and then grandkids.
He was a wonderful artist and helped me appreciate art forms I had turned my back on because I didn't see what he saw...He helped me see another aspect to those creations.
Ever the teacher, he also allowed me to see other sides to life..we shared our thoughts and I will be forever grateful for his friendship. Tom enhanced my life. Thank you, Sharon, for sharing him with the world. He often spoke of you and how you made him so happy. He will be missed by all who knew him.

I considered Tom both a colleague and dear friend. He worked closely with our former secretary, Tien May who passed away in February. Tom did so much for the department including 4 art scholarships. He was the chair when we planned and eventually moved into the new Art and Journalism Building and when we worked toward and eventually received NASAD accreditation. We are now a School of Art and the new building and new majors can be traced back to many things he did. He cared about the art department faculty/staff and the art students.

I worked with Tom many years and enjoyed when Tom and Sharon would visit the art office and update us on his grandchildren Noah and Emily. I will very much miss visiting with Tom and Sharon at the Minnetrista Farmers Market and chatting about what is going on with my children and also the School of Art. I hope to continue to see Sharon and share family news and updates. Rest in peace dear friend.
