My brother and I went on a Pastor's for Peace delegation to Nicaragua in 1989. It was a long but inspiring truck ride and we stopped at the most interesting places, like the Highlander Center, where we talked to Miles Horton. The trip was about our own radical education. The following year, Rev. Walker came to Poughkeepsie. In his talk, he said that we were working for a better world for "Ted," my 11 year old son who was in the audience. That's what has motivated me all along. Our kids deserve a better country and a better world.

Gail and the Walker family.I am just learning about this.(There is a reason I have been sick for a while) and now that we are preparing an event for Chavez, the first person that come to my mind for a prayer was Rev. Walker. What a sweet, sweet spirit. I met him when I was working for HIT and we shared the building. Later with always crossed path at a different events and "Luchas" His legacy will never died.

Years ago you visited Valparaiso University to recruit some students to go with you to Cuba. You were very passionate about your faith and vocation, and I truly admired that of you. Rest in peace, Rev. Walker. And, blessings to your family.

I went to Cuba this year, thanks to your daughter and your pioneering spirit. I stayed at the Martin Luther King, and I felt you there, several occasions. I smiled to look upon the many painted, sculptured, printed images of you throughout the island. I am sorry you are gone to your next journey, and I am thankful that your beautiful and amazing daughter Gail has stepped up to the plate and carried on the fine tradition, the mission of sending aid and ending the blockade against Cuba.
