LELAND--Sara. Sally had an exceptional career as a dancer working with George Balanchine and Jerome Robbins at the New York City Ballet. Her second career was staging and rehearsing numerous works by both choreographers. Companies and dancers asked for her to stage and coach ballets and were rewarded by her insights to many works. Sally will always be remembered by those who had the privilege to work with her. The George Balanchine Trust

Saddened to hear that Sally has left us. She will be greatly missed.
I was lucky to have been coached by her and experience the love and passion she shared for teaching others.
Her energy and positive attitude was infectious.
May her spirit continued to inspire .
Much love.

Sara Leland was one of my favorite dancers at NYCB. Going to see the ballet as a kid with my family sparked my interest in dance and Sara Leland was a major inspiration -- her performances were never short of dazzling. What an amazing beauty, gone too soon...

Dearest family
Sarah was my dance idol growing up. I loved watching her dance. She was so elegant. I lived with her mother and was part of the first opening of the Boston Ballet company as a freshman & sophomore in High School. I send my heartfelt prayers to her life and to her family at this time.
Much love
