Takuta Dave, one of my son's, Ethan has been calling for you lately. He really appreciated that you knew how to make him comfortable. You once gave him a toy activator and he took that thing to bed and carried it around pretending to be like you for weeks. I'm sure our whnau were not the only ones who cried to sleep recently when we heard you'd passed on. Your healing hands have been with our whnau for almost 10 years. I remember being a very cynical, apprehensive and pregnant client attending the clinic for the first time at the NZ College of Chiropractic. You were on the team of supervising staff and made such a difference to my wellbeing. My sleep and digestion improved. My sense of touch hyper-heightened in a good way, to the extent I noticed for the first time exactly where my nerves, organs and bones were. Later, I got sudden onset of sciatica and was in agony. I showed up heavily pregnant and demanded to be seen at the fully booked clinic. Matt from Australia was my intern and you showed him how to treat me. I left completely healed, it was a real turning point for me. Another time I pranked you into thinking you'd put my back out (people were always more serious when I was pregnant). We laughed so hard we cried. We repeated that prank over the years through all 3 pregnancies and played it on unsuspecting interns and staff who needed a good laugh. In your own practice our whnau loved hearing you share about your whnau. My kids love that you are a dad and enjoyed quizzing you about your kids My husband needed a clinician who was relatable as a bloke. Your banter and friendly nature put us all at ease. Thanks for being such a contribution to our lives. Rest easy friend. From our whnau to yours thanks for the difference you make in the world, he really loved sharing about you with us, Aroha atu, aroha mai.

Mate,
Thank you for great times had, amazing laughs and wisdom shared during my time in Auckland. I have marvelled at your contributions to chiropractic from the sidlines over the years. In awe, inspired and sad I trust you are continuing spreading the word in that amazing way that only you can wherever you are, until the end of time.
Love, respct, peace and gratitude my friend.

Dave was great at challenging everyone else, to think deeper, debating the philosophical arguments; but, in the middle of that, he would crack a joke which would bring out that loud infectious laugh. He was obviously a stalwart in our profession, pushing the wheelbarrow of holism, but always made you feel better about yourself by just being around him.
We'll miss you sorely, Dave.
