Still can't believe it that you have spread your wings and departed. To our beautiful Nanny Joan aka Grumpy known to many as Poutu Pakeha friend our hearts are broken with sadness.
You were one of our Nanny Poutu closest and best friends that she respected so much. When our Nan became sick you were such an amazing strength of support with home help with Nan, spending many hours with Nan and our whanau, sharing all your aroha, friendship with her. When Nan took her final breath and left this earth you became more closer and held dearly in our heart. You became another Aunty and Nan. You were stubborn, hard like Nan, but most of all you had one of the most caring hearts.
It was only recently we caught up at your whare in Thames and had an amazing time. So much we got the stitch from fits of laughter.
I can only imagine the mischief you and Nan will get back up to now you are both united again. Scheming, playing the pokies, watching your favourite shows together.
Nan gave me very clear instructions before her passing and said "Moko" please ensure you always visit, keep in touch and look after grumpy. I was proud to complete her wish and follow through to the end. I know when Nans wairua always came to visit you and she dropped the brown feather it was her wrapping around the korowai to let you know she was always there in wairua still with you.
I am going to miss you dearly, missing the many hours of laughter, coffees, jokes, kai we shared, madness and craziness but most of all you and your beautiful soul.
Haere atu ra Nanny Joan aka Grumpy. Moe mai ra.
All our aroha goes to Darren and Steve and our Kalka whanau at this sad time.
