I am saddened to hear Yvette has passed away. I managed to get to Auckland last year and enjoyed sharing some time with Yvette, reminiscing over bygone days of playing basketball with Buddy. My sincere condolences to all your family.Yvette and Buddy were great friends and I have many wonderful memories.

My thoughts and love to Neville, Peter, Karen, Bruce and families at the loss of your dearly loved Mother.

Farewell my dear friend, Yvette
I have treasured our friendship over the years, which began during our school days, competing in Athletics and riding horses. In later years you chose Athletics and I chose horses.
I have enjoyed following your sporting career and your families achievements.
I still treasure your letter you sent me from Helsinki after you won Gold Medal. My Grandchildren and Great-Grandchildren have used it on many occasions for school projects.

Your are now with your beloved Buddy, Rest in Peace my friend.

Sincere sympathy to you all at this sad time. What a beautiful lady whom I had the privilege to meet along with Buddy, at my home here in Invercargill, as Myrtle (my Mum) & Garry were staying at the time. What a legacy of beautiful memories she has left for all to share, of all those legendary moments.
Thoughts are very much with you all at this time
Kind Regards

Dear Karen; your brother Neville and family and all the extended "Corlett Family"

Please accept my heartfelt condolences at the loss of your Mum "Yvette" who I consider as the "The Mother & Princess" of Women's Sport in our nation. Who by her incredible efforts paved the way for all young "Kiwi" women to actually achieve not only in sport but in every endeavor so that all women could equal the achievements of men in any field.

Along with Kate Sheppard; I consider your Mum "Yvette Williams" were the two greatest women leaders in New Zealand society in the 20th Century.

As a result of your Mum's achievements more than 65 years ago New Zealand women have excelled in a wide range of sports too many to detail based on the inspiration your mother has given to them and our nation, without any doubt New Zealand is poorer at the loss of such an incredible New Zealander.

I mourn along with tens of thousands of true "Kiwi's" that honour your Mum for her life time efforts for all those who "seek to achieve" success.

Thank you for sharing your Mum with all of us who love not only "Sport" but also love our nation of "New Zealand" of whom "Yvette Williams" was "The Best of the Best".

Your most sincerely;

Yvette and Buddy called at our house at Whangamata and enjoyed an afternoon tea with us. I am Yvette's age and have always admired her in sport. An enjoyable afternoon. Always remember a lovely Lady.
