Dear Pat and family
I wanted to echo what has been written and said for Ray - he was “larger than life “, full of good nature, with time for everyone. He could walk all of the corridors of the DHB and it’s hospitals , comfortably open any door to talk - always such a great advocate for patients and staff. I really enjoyed his friendship and also really appreciated his willingness to assist with baptism or blessings whenever we had a newborn and Whanau who needed him. This was anytime day or night.
We also enjoyed easy access to the chapel for quiet times, education initiatives, Whanau conversations or the opportunity to farewell a colleague before their tangi. All of this emphasised how integral Ray was to the healthy functioning of our health services.
Family must be very proud of Ray and his gifts to this community. I’m really sad to see Ray go - I would have enjoyed getting older alongside him.
My sympathies to family
Kindest regards

To Pat and Family: Ken and Coralie Shakespeare from NSW send their love and prayers to you and your family on the passing of Ray. I have many fond memories of Ray both at CPE Conferences and in your home when we were in Rotorua for a CPE Conference. Ray was an outstanding person, chaplain, pastor, supervisor, and friend who has touched the lives of countless people over his lifetime. We have been privileged to have known him and thank God for every memory we have of him.
