John Paul Thompson, 76, of Canonsburg, a good man, died Sunday, July 7, 2019, after a three-month illness.
He was born January 6, 1943, in Canonsburg, a son of Gerard and Florence Zima Thompson.
Prior to his retirement, Mr. Thompson was a driver for FedEx for 10 years, and later a driver for the Canonsburg NAPA for 15 years.
On November 1, 1961, he married his loving wife of more than 57 years, Karen Lee Susack Thompson, who survives.
Also surviving are his son, Joseph S. (James Gavel) Thompson of Beechview; his daughter-in-law, Lisa (Dennis) Gehrlein; four grandchildren, John Thompson III, Luke Thompson, Molly Thompson and Tad Thompson; nephew Matthew (Heather) Williamson; and his niece, Lynda (Wayne) Thompson.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, John P. Thompson Jr.; his brother, Jerry Thompson; his niece, Lisa Reeder; and his nephew, J.J. Thompson.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday in Sollon Funeral and Cremation Services Ltd., 30 East College Street, Canonsburg, Phillip L. Sollon, supervisor, J. David Sollon, director, 724-746-1000. An additional visitation will be from 11 a.m. to noon, the time of service, Tuesday, July 16, in the funeral home. Burial will follow in National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Cecil Township.
