I remember Nick Ingarra, we all do—those of us who worked in the printing industry in the Akron area before it all became a simple computer button to push. We knew Nick as the go to man for our camera work and litho films, for using his skills in improve our artwork, and his magic in helping us meet our most urgent deadlines—and for so often forgiving the rush charges.

We remember Nick as a gentleman of the old school, always greeting us with a smile and kind words. He plied a specialty trade now nearly forgotten—in use of a language almost archaic and foreign in its meanings for terms like chokes and spreads, blues-lines, half-tones, duo-tones, and the screen angles of four-color process.

Nick operated a family business, and his children learned the family trade standing on chairs to crank giant handles to focus cameras the size of automobiles with lenses the size of headlights mounted to great bellows that protruded into acrid darkrooms aglow in dim red safety lights.

Yes, we remember Nick for his service to our country, for his decades of skilled business services in an industry nearly forgotten, for his many kind words and his smile.
