Ralph Barron
Ralph Barron, 87, died unexpectedly on October 26, 2016. A true renaissance man, he was our doctor, friend, protector, cheerleader, builder, financial consultant, political expert, story teller but most of all, our hero.
Ralph was born in September of 1929 in Weirton, West Virginia, and grew up in Youngstown, Ohio where he began his career in the steel mills. In 1951, Ralph enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and honorably served in the Korean War where he was awarded a Medal of Valor and achieved the rank of E6 Staff Sargent.
After returning from Korea, Ralph graduated from Youngstown State University and then graduated from College of Osteopathic Medicine and Surgery in Des Moines, Iowa, returning to Ohio to practice medicine for the next 30 plus years.
During his career, Dr. Barron served on many medical boards, including the Summit County Board of Health. He was also published in the Library of Congress for his research work in the field of Internal Medicine, and was a physician who pioneered new techniques and procedures.
In addition to medicine, Ralph pursued various business endeavors, flew planes, traveled, fished and skied all over the world, played softball and enjoyed his other home in Montana where friends and family often gathered.
Ralph is survived by his wife of 55 years, Phyllis; his two daughters, Kara (Eric Burr) and Mary Anne; three grandchildren, Anna, Alecsander and Benjamin.
