Garland G. Lenoir, Jr
Sept. 21, 1943 - Nov. 14, 2020

OKLAHOMA CITY
Garland Lenoir was one of a kind: gregarious, loyal and brave, with a commanding presence. Born in Ohio and raised in California, the son of Garland, Sr and Doris Willingham Lenoir. He graduated Berkeley HS at 16 before joining the USAF, serving with distinction in Vietnam. Stationed at Tinker AFB, he made Oklahoma City his home, where he married Bernice Hicks, raising three children, Michelle, Garland III, and Nichole.
He attended Langston University and was one of the first Black Air Traffic Controllers at Will Rogers World Airport before becoming a successful entrepreneur.
Garland's business enterprise included restaurants and clubs, including the acclaimed Odyssey.
Garland left us too soon after a valiant battle with lung cancer. He is survived by his siblings, Michael Lenoir (Diane) and Nancy Lenoir; his children, Michelle Lenoir Gaulding (JW), Garland Lenoir, III (Kathleen), Nichole Lenoir, and Monica Henderson; grandchildren, Garland Lenoir, IV, Jeffrey Gaulding (Emilee), Christian Lenoir, Brianna Gaulding, Gabrielle Lenoir, Elana Banks, and Darrell Hill, Jr; great-grandchildren, Caiden Lenoir and Charlotte Gaulding.

Our dear cousin was a kind and warm soul with an infectious sense of humor. As a young man visiting with he and Mike and Nancy, I was truly amazed at his ability and success in the restaurant and entertainment industry. Watching him interact with customers at the Odyssey was entertaining to say the least. Rest in peace cousin, one Sooner fan to another!!!
