Dear Pamela:
I was saddened to hear of Max's passing on Tuesday, and even more disheartened that I didn't learn of his death and his memorial service until just now, late Saturday evening. I'm so sorry that Lindy and I weren't at the service, and had we known of it we would have certainly been there.

Though we had only a few chances to be with Max, each one was a true pleasure. We have always remembered the lovely evening in your home when we first had the opportunity for an extended visit with him. It was clear he was not only a man of intelligence, wit, charm and talent, but one of the highest character and integrity.

I know that Max's admirable qualities duplicate and reflect your own, because I had the honor of being your colleague and knowing you so well for many years. Those years in which you and I worked together are among the most treasured of my career.

I cannot imagine the loss you must feel with Max's absence. Please know that Lindy and I share what can only be a small measure of your grief.

With sympathy,

Ken (and Lindy) Adams
