June 17, 1983 - May 20, 2013 OKLAHOMA CITY Megan Nicole Billingsley Futrell was born June 17, 1983, in Moore, Oklahoma, to Kristopher Billingsley and Debbie Billingsley Miller. After Kristopher passed away, Megan and Debbie found Rick Miller, who loved her as if she were his own daughter. With the birth of her brothers, Calvin and Jack, Megan became "Sissy." She was a big sister and little mother to her brothers. Megan graduated from Westmoore High School in 2001. Megan danced all through school, ballet, tap, jazz, Hula, hip hop and lyrical. She was a member of St. Andrew's United Methodist Church and was a member of their youth group. She attended UCO for one year and then finished obtaining her Bachelor's Degree in Special Education at the University of Oklahoma. Megan's interest in Special Education was influenced by two special angels, Katie DiSalvatore and Allison Elwood, her inspiration. The family had tears the day she walked across the stage at the OU Field House on graduation day, a very proud day. Cody Futrell remembers the first time he met the beautiful girl with the blonde, curly hair and fantastic smile. Cody and "Curls" have been married for nine years. They brought Kanon Lee Futrell into this world on February 18, 2005. They were married in Las Vegas, officiated by Elvis. Megan began her teaching career at Moore Public School's Highland West Jr. High School. Megan lived in Oklahoma City, Edmond, Norman and Moore but would never move far away from her "Momma." Special words that describe Megan are beautiful, determined, loving, kind-hearted, reliable, sentimental, thoughtful, tenacious, stern and selfless. Her word was good as gold, and when her mind was made up, it was a done-deal. Megan had three special words throughout her home, Live - Laugh - Love. Megan was the Team Mom for baseball and wrestling. She couldn't miss a game or match. She pushed Kanon to do his best, start what he finished and left him every day telling him to "Make good decisions." Megan was very proud of her son. Megan was especially happy when they were blessed with a second son, Case Michael Futrell, on January 29, 2013. Megan loved spending time with her boys and was a wonderful and loving wife and mother. Megan was preceded in death by her father, Kristopher Billingsley; and her grandfather, Jerry Norbury. She is survived by her husband, Cody Michael Futrell; son, Kanon; parents, Rick and Debbie Miller; brothers, Calvin and Jack Miller; grandparents, Carolynn Norbury and Jerry and Mary Miller; as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Visitation will be available at Vondel L Smith Mortuary, 6934 S. Western Avenue, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, on Sunday, May 26 and Monday, May 27 during regular business hours. Services for Megan and Case will be Tuesday, May 28, 2013, at 2 p.m. at St. Andrew's United Methodist Church, 2727 S.W. 119 Street, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Graveside services will be immediate following at Heritage Burial Park at South Lakes, 4000 S.W. 119 Street, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, with the Rev. D.A. Bennett officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate your donations to the Futrell Family Support Trust, through any MidFirst Bank location. For God is not unrighteous so as to forget your work and the love you showed for his name by ministering and continuing to minister to the holy ones (Hebrews 6:10). Megan Futrell will never be forgotten for all the work she did for her community and especially those encouraged and inspired in her care. May God continue to strengthen your family in these “times hard to deal with” (2Tim 3:1), especially without a beloved one such as Megan Futrell.

To the Futrell family, my deepest condolences. It is a shame to loose someone who means a lot in ones life. But remember that God is healing the ones that are brokenhearted. He promises us that we can look to him because he is our rock and shelter what Psalms 121:5,6 says.

My son Darian Minton was Mrs. Futrell student 1st semester of this passed school year at Highland West. Darian loved her as a teacher and hated leaving her class when the time came to switch to another reading class. My husband and I meet Mrs. Futrell at the open house and we were the only parents that showed up, so we had her complete undivided attention! We have four children and meet many teachers, and you know when you meet that special teacher, Mrs. Futrell was one of those special teachers. You could tell that she and Darian had a wonderful teacher/student relationship, which helped Darian in the reading class. I know how much Darian will miss her and how upset he is by the news of her death, along with her new baby. Our hearts go out to Mrs.Futrell's Family. Our hearts are breaking over the news of her passing that no words can express. You are in our prays.

With heavy hearts our thoughts and prayers are with this family as all of you grieve the loss of Megan and her baby. May God comfort you and strengthen you as you comfort each other and care for the children that are left behind. We pray that this family draws close to God for His direction and that He forties your faith that He is a God of love and that he cares for each of you deeply; He wants the best for us. We know this because John 3:16 assures us that He will remedy all of the pain and sorrow that we experience today including the death of our Megan and Case. Until that time, be constant in prayer that you can keep your happy memories of mother and child continuously in your hearts and minds.
