I have always looked back at what a great job he did and how hard it was to accomplish this feat with the great attitude and personality he had. I have so many great memories that I ALWAYS think about when I sing or think of my days at NWC and how hard we worked to put on shows, practice, set up, and still manage to have a good time doing it all. He and his family affected my life for the better. I miss this generation and the veterans of the Korean war, as they are the last of what I consider to be the greatest generation. My family just held services for my father who was a Marine in Korea just two weeks ago as well, so I truely sympathize with the Mears' family. My prayers and love go out to Eva, Alicia, and the rest of the family, and to the passing of the very dear soul that Norman Mears was.

Mr. Mears was simply one of the best teachers I ever had. One of my favorites. He was so kind, humorous and displayed an obviously genuine love of his students and teaching. Rest in Peace Mr. Mears.

I took Mr Mears' Music Appreciation class at Edmond High School. Great teacher....and a fine man. Years later, I taught his son Britt guitar lessons. I know that Norman Mears will be missed by many. It was a pleasure to have known him.

It saddens me so much to hear about the passing of my favorite high school teacher! I was in Cryslurs at NWC in the late 80's. Mr. Mears always encouraged me to do my best, and because of him, I began voice lessons with Mr. Platt and watched my voice really bloom. I looked forward to contests and concerts all the time because he made choir fun and he made us work hard, and for that I respected him greatly. One of my favorite memories was circling up, holding hands, and singing "Sweet, sweet Spirit" before each choir performance. I am sure he is singing in the heavenly choir now, along with my parents.
