Vernon T. Huey
Aug. 28, 1936 - July 21, 2020

GUTHRIE
After a four and a half year battle with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, this valiant man, Vernon T., "V.T." Huey, passed on to his creator. He was born in Waco, TX during a record- breaking heat wave, and he retained a love for Texas and Oklahoma. He grew up in Oklahoma City and attended Eugene Field, Taft and Classen, graduating in 1954. He also attended OU and UCO.
V.T. worked in the family sewing machine business, and then as a trim carpenter. He loved to fish and was an avid golfer. Amazingly, he had 13 holes-in-one. He lived on the golf course the last seventeen years, had his own golf cart, riding lawn mower and pick-up truck – utopia!
He is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Elaine; two daughters, Kathryn McGill, of OKC; and Karen Thompson, of California; and his four grandchildren, Connor, Patrick, Trent, and Kaylie. He is also survived by Elaine's children, Pam Mansour, Paul Miller, and Dr. Suzanne Miller and their spouses and children; as well as his brother, Bobby Huey and his wife Lou; and extended family.
He was predeceased by his parents, Vernon and Roberta Huey; and younger brother, Eddie Huey.
He was a good man, hardworking, very responsible and caring. When he saw a need, he filled it, always willing to help.
Private services are planned. Arrangements are under the direction of the Smith-Gallo Funeral Home, Guthrie.
Memorial donations in his name would be welcome at Salvation Army.
