Cheryl Ann Schaefer, 74, of Rancho Mission Viejo, CA, passed away on April 28, 2021 due to complications from brain surgery. Though we lost her too soon, she unselfishly was able to donate one of her organs and possibly save another life. Preceded in death by her parents Keith and Mary Kavanagh of Fullerton, CA. Cheryl is survived by her husband of 55 years, Dave, and their two daughters Wendi (married to Matt Nelson) and Heather (married to Paul Dillon). She is also survived by her four grandsons; David (married to Brittney), Jason, Kyle and Trevor, and two great-grandchildren, Weston and Eloise. Services were held privately with the family. Cheryl was a doting daughter, loving wife and caring mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Cheryl was always classy and beautiful on the outside but even more beautiful on the inside. We will miss her dearly and we will always love her. McAulay & Wallace Mortuary

Cheryl and I had been friends for more than 50 years although not being in contact for over a year. She was such a lovely woman who always looked just perfect. We shared many visits and memories over the years and across the miles separating us. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Learning of her passing several months afterward is an added sadness.
Wish had we had reconnected. Peace and prayers to get family.

My mom left us too soon. She was always so classy and put together. I miss talking to her every day. Thank you Mom for everything you have done for me, Heather and our entire family. You were a wonderful mother and grandmother and we will always love you and miss you! — Wendi Nelson

Cheryl was the heart of our family. We cannot express how much we will miss her. We have always been very proud of our two caring daughters (Wendi and Heather) and their families. Cheryl and I have felt our most important legacy would be to leave behind these two wonderful girls and their families. The organ transplant organization that has treated us with the utmost dignity and respect is Lifesharing. If you would like to learn more about organ donation and possibly provide a gift in Cheryl's name - you can go to their website: lifesharing.org. Our family will love and miss Cheryl forever. Love, Dave
