Dave was born in Kansas City, Missouri, on November 11, 1939, to parents Delores and Arthur Test. He died on April 29, 2020, at the age of 80, in Brea, California, due to complications of Advanced Alzheimers. He was first diagnosed in 2013 and spent the last three years in the memory loss facility of Villagio/Capriana. His father was an electrician, working the early days on the Manhattan Project. When Dave was four, the family made its way to Southern California, settling into a home in Lawndale where Dave spent his school years, graduating from Leuzinger High School in 1957, where he played football, ran track, and served as sports writer on the school newspaper. He next attended El Camino Community College, where he continued his football career and completed his A.A. Degree. Next came his years at the University of California at Santa Barbara, where he majored in Physical Education and continued to play football. While there, he served as President of the UCSB Block 'C' Club and met and married classmate, Ann Collins. He took a brief time out from his studies to join the Army Reserves and was stationed at Fort Ord in Northern California. Dave graduated from UCSB in 1963. That summer the young couple moved to Tucson, Arizona, where Dave embarked on a Master's Degree in Physical Education at the University of Arizona and Ann began her career as a teacher. Dave landed his first position as a coach and teacher at Monte Vista HS in the Whittier High School District, where he remained for three years. He then moved to Troy High School in Fullerton, serving as teacher, coach, Department Chair, and Assistant Principal. He pursued a second Master's Degree in Counseling from CSUF, and then completed his Ph.D. in Leadership and Human Behavior at U.S.I.U. in San Diego in 1973. Along the years, he also served at Sunny Hills HS as Assistant Principal, Don Lugo HS in Chino as Principal, Sonora HS as Principal, and the Fullerton District Office in Human Resources. After 33 years in K-12 education, he retired from the Fullerton HS District in 1996. He then served as an Instructor in the Secondary Education Department at CSUF until 2013. Dave leaves behind his wife, Ann, of over 57 years, his two daughters Allison and Melissa and son-in-law, Eric. He also leaves three grandchildren, Carli, Camryn and Will, plus his beloved sister-in-law, Jane and nieces Jennifer and Stephanie and their families. He is also survived by the remaining, close-knit group of Troy coaches friends for many years. A private family service was held on May 7th at Loma Vista Cemetery, but a Celebration of Dave's Life will be held at the end of the summer or in early fall.

I am sorry for your loss. Coach Test was my football coach from 1966 to 1970. I feel that he was a great role model and teacher. May God comfort you and your family at this time.
