He was born in Holland in 1929, 5th of 11 children. He was raised a Christian and believed in God's will his entire life. After WW2 he immigrated to Ripon, CA in 1947 as a farm worker working in Almond Orchards. In 1948 he joind the Army and was in Korea from 1950-51. He was a Sergeant in the 3rd Infantry Division and was awarded the Bronze Star. After Korea he was in Artesia, CA where he fed Dairy cows. Artesia is where he met his future wife who lived across the street who he would be lovingly married to for 65 years. He went to Fullerton College, Long Beach State, USC, and Washington University for his MD. He interned at Cedars of Lebanon. Dr. De Kuyper practiced medicine from 1962 to 2001 when he retired to Irvine. His whole life he always wanted to help people, that's why he got into medicine. He worked hard until he couldn't. Dr. De Kuyper loved helping people and had a great sense of humor, was always positive. He truly loved the United States always saying "Only in America" could someone come here as a farm worker with nothing and through hard work, dedication and sacrifice could he and my mom build an amazing life. My dad was a loving father, husband and grandfather.
