I met Alan in 1982 by answering a classified ad seeking a help with a book he was writing. We hit it off well and I really enjoyed working with him. After a few months, I left to work at the late Oregon Journal, then finished my journalism career at The Oregon.

But I never forgot Alan. He was funny and had a great sense of humor. We spoke every few years and always rekindled our laugh-fest.

I feel lucky that got to know his late father, his mother and two of his sisters, Eileen and Katy.

My deepest sympathies to all.

Ron Weber again. I forgot to tell you that my wife and I will be in Mexico and I will miss Al's memorial service. I will notify the AA club and hopefully, someone will join you.

Alan and I lost touch more than once over the years. When we would reconnect, we picked up right where we left off. I will always remember your sense of humor, strength and most of all your friendship. Rest In Peace my friend.
