After reading Mrs. Pihl's obituary I am sorry that I never knew her. She sounds like an extraordinary lady who lived life to the full and encouraged others to do so. My condolences to the family and friends who feel the loss.

Pihl is an unusual name, and I wonder if perhaps this family is related to the late Emil Joseph "Joe" and Josephine "Josie" Pihl of Albert Lea, MN. If so, they may be having a family reunion in Heaven.

As an OHSU graduate and as a camp nurse, I can identify with some of her experiences and wish I had known her. I am sure that we shared mutual friends, including a few instructors.

Sweet tough Miss Alice. I remember her at Camp Adahi where I was a junior counselor. What a treasure.
