I first met Dave when he and Susan were looking for a location for
coffee shop. He was one of my first tenants in The Water Tower @
Johns Landing and one of the most successful.

I treasured an invitation to be a guest at his home and experienced a
fabulous meal and experienced his warm hospitality. I will always
have some wonderful memories of him.

Dave was always warm and welcoming whenever I visited Susan, my college roommate. His love of life and his laughter were infectious! And his enthusiasm! I am so sorry to hear of his passing, but I am sure that wherever he is now, it is a happier place for his presence.

A life well lived will always be my memory of Dave! From the US History class he taught us at Milwaukie High School, to visiting him in NY City where he was teaching 3rd grade as part of a group of teachers who signed in there to make a positive impact, Dave was always about making a difference. I am sure he had the same influence on his business associates and employees too.

My condolences to the Kobos family as I know Dave will be greatly missed by you as well as those of us he taught at Milwaukie! He will certainly continue to be present in my mind and heart as he is unforgettable - not only a great teacher with a remarkable mind, but also a great person. I still tell stories about Dave's unorthodox methodology to my friends in education! Only an idealist and activist goes from teaching high school in a homogeneous middle class suburb to then teaching 3rd grade while living in the same impoverished, diverse neighborhood as his students in NY.

I am thankful for his mentorship to me personally, his college guidance, and for his authenticity and openness to us as coming of age teenagers! Thankful, I had the opportunity to be taught by Mr. Kobos in the fall of 1966, some 53 years ago! Dave, May You Rest In Peace. Gone but never forgotten!

A couple of years ago I took a pizza class with David at Bob's Red Mill. Somebody in the class asked him his favorite kind of pizza to make. David got a HUGE grin on his face, and a twinkle in his eye, and said the BEST pizza is when the grandkids come over to his house, each has their own pan, and they make pizza together. He said there is no better tasting pizza then when u do it with the grandkids.
