Laurie & family, We were very saddened to hear of Mike's passing. We first met Mike through Phyllis (whom I loved and felt so priviliged to be able to bring the Holy Eucharist to and to pray with). In my first meeting it was apparent Mike had many of the same gentle qualities and warm heart. My husband & I were firsthand witnesses to Mike's devotion and love of Laurie and all his family sitting across the church at many Masses. It was a true privilige to meet you all and our prayers are for the arms of Mary & Jesus to be wrapped around you all providing their peace, comfort and love at all times and letting you know your beloved Mike is with them and smiling down on all of you. God Bless you all and know you are in our prayers.

Dear Laurie,

Mike's passing hits close to home for me. Like you and Mike, my husband and I have been married for almost 37 years. Also, Mike and my husband (whose name is Michael) and I were all born in 1953. My husband is the love of my life as Mike was to you.
Mike was special, and in the short time I knew him, I saw that. I often tell people how supportive and open he was to me in class one night when he acknowledged that he saw me go from struggling in the first class to moving forward as the class continued to meet. His comments really made an impression on me.
I hope your family and friends and acquaintances can give you strength as you go through this sorrowful time.

Sincerely,
Diane Tevlin

Laurie,
My memmories of Mike span many years. When he hosted Garp and all us young boys in a party at your N. Portland home, he was one of us. And last year in Vegas with all the Webers, he was as always so kind and honest and made Marty & I feel part of the clan. Indeed a great man to all.

Dear Laurie; Caryn, Molly, Nick and Merilee Bales:

There are no words to express how sad I am for your deep loss. To Mike's precious family, we have never met - and yet over these past few months as Mike and I reconnected it was so clear how he cherished it and every one of you so much; and we promised one another we would all find a time and place to come together. I hope that we can all do this. And dear cousin Merilee, our door is always open to you so please come and visit. One of my most precious memories is the time we all spent together in Colorado and how Mike's watchful, mischievious and kind gaze seemed to keep the rest of us (especially me) in line. I know that you were all as lucky to have him each day in your life as he felt having each of you. With Love---- Kate and my brood (Maggie, Rachel, Cameron, Pierre and Anna Mei).

Dear Laurie, Nick, Caryn and Molly,

Lorrie and I were so saddened to hear of Mike's passing. We have such warm, wonderful memories of the time we spent together in the 80s and 90s. Eric and Nick's school and sports exploits, generally giggling through all their mischief; Caryn and Molly being David and Amy's favorite babysitters. I definitely remember the keg downstairs, but it wasn't full of root beer! I'm sorry we've lost touch over the years but will definitely miss Mike nonetheless! We're thinking of you.

Love,

Bob and Lorrie

Caryn, Molly and Nick,
I am so sorry to hear of your dad's passing. He was always so welcoming with his root beer keg for all us kids down stairs and also pretty entertaining with his crazy Halloween fire stunts. You were all very fortunate to have such a wonderful, fun-loving dad. He will be remembered fondly by many. My heart goes out to all of you.

Laurie,
I was talking with Melinda at Willamette yesterday morning and found out the news of Mike's passing. I'm so very sorry your family has experienced this loss. Everyone who has mentioned Mike has said what a wonderful couple you were and how sweet you were together. I never had the honor of meeting your husband, but by looking at the quality of his loved ones, it is truly evident he was an incredible man. Dream, Believe, Achieve, REMEMBER.
