I am shocked, and deeply saddened to have just learned about Jon's passing! He and I had just communicated on LinkedIn, back on Dec. 6. It was a great connection...He was a great Man! I worked with Jon, for several years, at Essilor of America. I enjoyed hearing about his family, and his passions. He always had a smile on his face, a bounce in his step, and a clear zest for life...and helping others. He will be greatly missed! I pray that God holds his family and friends close...and grants them peace, comfort, and healing during this very difficult time.

Jon was one of the finest people I've ever been blessed to meet. He was always kind, upbeat, outgoing and passionate about his interests. He had an insatiable appetite for learning and doing. If he didn't know how to do something, he figured it out. He was a student of life.

Jon and I worked together on Think About Your Eyes for 5 years; a pursuit we both were crazy about. He wanted to make a difference and he did! Plus he was well-liked and respected by optical industry folks...he was so admired his friendships continued even after he moved on from TAYE.

And a renaissance man...into sculpting, building things, cooking, motorcycle touring, traveling, and his family, especially his beloved Julie, his treasured Sam, daughter-in-law Elena, and new grandson Evan.

The world is a better place because of you my dear friend Jon. i'm thankful you were part of my life and will always remember you.

God just added a bright star to the heavens.

I am very sad to hear of Jon's death. My condolences to his family. He was a wonderful person and friend during my first the first two years at MAS. It was fun learning and laughing with him as we made pots and built and fired a wood fired kiln in Manning with Phil Eagle our teacher. I dropped out of art school after two years and last saw him at my wedding in 1974- sorry I lost to touch- but the memories of him confirm what I always felt about him- as a creative caring person.
May his memory alway be a blessing,
Shalom, Monica Moriarty

I am so sad to hear of Jon's untimely passing. He was a great man and friend. I've had the pleasure of knowing Jon and his beautiful family over the years. He was always a class act, an inspiration and a true Renaissance man. He was a businessman, an artist, a cook, a sailor, a builder-craftsman, a musician, and a mature, responsible, fun, interesting and loving person. One time when I came over to his house he was working on a project and listening to music and I said I really liked the song and asked who it was. He said John Mellencamp. I said I had heard of him but not really listened to his music much. He immediately took out the CD and gave it to me. My heart breaks for his family and friends. He will sorely be missed by all.
