Julie was the trail blazer of our "Danish Mountain Goats" hiking group. We walked almost every week for many years, and Julie always loved it, and always had new places to hike. She knew the Portland area better than anyone I know. Sometimes I saw Julie twice a week because she was also a part of a Danish DVD movie group. We all loved Julie, and I don't know how we will get along without her happy smile, great personality, and wonderful friendship.

I know its a fact of life that the longer we live the more of our friends leave us but it does not make it any easier.
I last saw Julie in 2010 at our 50th high school reunion and we were able to visit just like no time had elapsed since we last saw each other.
We first met at Merle Davies grade school in the 6th grade and no it doesn't seem like yesterday. Bob and I ran around together and probably got into too much mischief for our own good. They were an interesting couple and whatever they had seem to work well for them.
Julianne was a loved and loving lady and will be missed by all.

I met Julie when I started my first year at Highland Park. I became the 8th grade English teacher after she retired, leaving me with tough shoes to fill. One day she stopped by and poked her head into the room. ALL the kids were excited to see her, as they had known her and hoped to have her as a teacher (I knew there were a few kids who were disappointed they got me instead of her). She gave me a tremendous endorsement when she told the class "Isn't he great?!" That was a major turning point for me because I got the Julie Grenzer stamp of approval. So glad I had the chance to get to know her and be a friend.
