Kurt A. Humphrey
1951 - May 26, 2020
Kurt Humphrey passed away May 26, 2020 in Goldendale, Wash.
He was born in Minnesota, his family moved to Livermore, Calif., in the 1950's, where he became a scholar and an outstanding athlete. He and his wife, Rebecca, were married in 1974.
He attended Humboldt State University designing his own major, Resource Interpretation and Planning, graduating in 1976. Kurt worked in the energy development industry his entire career. His work included power projects throughout the United States and Mexico.
Kurt was a man of many passions, first and foremost being his family. His four grandchildren were the light of his life. He was a good storyteller and had a great sense of humor. He took joy in spending time in nature, playing basketball with his sons and friends, digging potatoes in his garden and working on his golf game. To say he was an avid fly fisherman is and understatement, much of his time revolved around fishing. Kurt spent many evenings on the porch strumming his mandolin and always looked forward to making music with his friends. He and Rebecca spent their time between their residence in Portland and their ranch in Washington. The ranch was were he was happiest, especially when family and friends were there with him.
He is remembered by his wife, Rebecca; and his sons, Ben and Sam, their wives Megan and Jamie; and by his grandchildren, Viana, Vance, Maximus and Charlotte. And the multitude of friends he leaves behind.
A celebration of life to follow as soon as is safely possible.
Kurt was on the land use board for the Maryhill Museum. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the museum.
