Michael Pellow Obituary

Michael Don Pellow
May 22, 1946 - Sept. 5, 2019
Michael Don Pellow, 73, passed away peacefully Sept. 5, 2019. He was born on May 22, 1946 in Portland and lived throughout Clackamas County his entire life. Mike was a 1964 graduate of Oregon City high school. After graduation Mike joined the U.S. Navy as a seaman for four years before being honorably discharged with the Vietnam Service Medal with one bronze star.
Michael is survived by his wife of 35 years, Lori Pellow; two daughters, Mandy Mitchell and Elizabeth Wilson; two granddaughters, Alyssa and Rylee Mitchell; and his beloved Buster; along with five siblings; three step-children; and five step-grandchildren.
Mike worked for USF Reddaway for over 30 years and made friends at his delivery stops all over the Portland metro area. For years Mike went to nearly every home Duck game with his late father in law with a "decked out duck car." Mike's hobbies included coin collecting, Louis L'Amour books and Western collectibles. He loved going to the movies. After retirement, Mike enjoyed traveling to Alaska with his wife, volunteering at the senior center in Gladstone washing dishes and taking his two young granddaughters to story time at the Oregon City Library weekly. Mike had a heart of gold, always offering his help to anyone he saw who may need it. Nothing was out of the way for Mike if it meant he could help someone. He was a terrific husband, father and grandfather and friend who always made sure we knew he loved us. He was our biggest cheerleader and will be missed greatly.

Not sure what to say?

Mike always brightened our day when he visited our coin shop. A great guy who loved his family and was always ready to help a friend - and probably everyone he met was a friend! We will miss him.

Dianne and I are lacking the right words to honor the friend Mike was to us. We enjoyed traveling and cruising together, dinners in and out, playing cards, going to movies and simply sharing life together. He was a man of integrity with a heart of gold, always hoping to ease a burden and offer encouragement and support. There was no truer patriot and standup man than Mike. He loved his family, his country, his friends, and the Oregon Ducks; always loyal to those priorities. Our friendship spanned nearly 60 years - a rarity and a blessing. We shared childhood memories, war stories and all the celebrations and heartaches of our lives. A man of modesty, Mike would be shocked to know how much he is missed and deeply moved to know how many lives he touched with his kindness. You were a huge blessing in our lives, Mike; well done, good and true friend. The hole you left will never be filled, but the memories we made will keep you near.

Lori, Mandy, and Beth, you will always be dear and close to us. We pray for you and your family with hopes that your pain will be eased by the happiest of memories and your faith.

Love,
Jerry and Dianne Striefel

I called him "Cow-Boy" Mike. We met at an antique and collectibles show years ago.We were both selling. Mike sold mainly western/cowboy stuff. Every time I saw him, I bought something. We were born one day apart! So, we liked the same thing. We grew-up together apart. He was everything a cowboy should be. Honest, plain spoken and would never lie. Tom, Mix would call him a "Straight Shooter." I was luckily invited to his home once to buy things for my internet business and a few items just for me. He was a real gentleman. He will be missed by a LOT of people.
Happy Trails Mike,
