Being the first female niece to arrive in the Ruggiero family, I was privileged to have my Aunt Margaret as my Baptismal godmother. And by counsel and personal example, she lived up to the responsibility. My Aunt Margaret brought joy into my life as a child and, as an adult we enjoyed the relationship of two women who loved each other.

My father Michael, the eldest of the Ruggiero clan, would often declare his love and respect for this younger sister, who acted as guardian to our family. My Aunt Margaret made him ...us ... feel safe under the umbrella of her love and devotion to "la famiglia." Tina Spinogatti

I was blessed to know Margaret. She was a wonderful person, and will be missed. But,anyone who knew her will have good memories of her. Margaret loved her family so much and she was a wonderful mentor to her nieces and nephews.

I first met the Ruggieros in 1972 when Arline and I moved to College Park. I was a young engineer, and I was so impressed with Tony, Tina, Al, and Carl. I just knew that they would make great engineers! I saw Al as a real McGyver after observing him dumpster diving for bits and pieces for his inventions. But, Al worked one summer with Margaret and under her mentoring, he focused on a future in accounting. The world lost a great engineer, but gained an even greater accountant! And Tony, Tina, and Carl have all shined in the technical field . They may have slightly different titles, but in my mind, they're all engineers! Plus, Tina married Ken, a really talented engineer at Martin!

Margaret was a true trailblazer and role model for women (and men also). I imagine she faced prejudice, harassment, and hostility by some in what was then a male-dominated profession. But, Margaret had the strength to prevail, and the world is a better place because of Margaret!

I enjoyed talking with Margret at family gatherings. But, I regret not taking the opportunity to hear her stories as she grew and prospered in her career.

Thanks, Margaret, for all you have given to so many people! I love you and miss you!

My daily dose of sunshine, I will miss our path walks and sunny days in the courtyard but most of all your laughter and smile :-)

Wonderful, caring, intelligent woman. You will be remembered often and missed by many.
