Peggy, Dick was a dear friend to Charlie and me from the time we met him at College Park in 1959. Then he married you (a North Carolinian like Charlie) and we loved you, too. I still remember how proud he was to introduce you and Julee when he came to be our pastor at Powers Drive. We treasure his book (Parables) that he inscribed and sent to us in Memphis in 1971. We're grateful to have been back in touch in recent years through his Christmas letters and most recent CD's. They'll continue to draw closer to the Lord as we listen to them. We live in Germantown, TN at the Germantown Plantation Retirement Center now.
Love to you and Julee,
Shirley Biggers

Dear Peggy, my heart is with you and your daughter as you are experiencing the loss of Dick. I always enjoyed being with Dick, our paths crossed many many times while we were "growing up". Peace, Joe Slade

I knew Richard from our playground days in the late '40,s and was an acquaintance in Junior High and Senior High Schools. He and my sister, Eleanor Davis Abbott, were friends and he sang at her wedding in the late '50,s and also at her 50th wedding anniversary. The obituary describes him as I remember him, always smiling or finding humor in the moment. Peace to him and his family at this time.
