Florida International University Bridge Collapse Victims Obituary
In the afternoon of Thursday, March 15, the recently installed pedestrian bridge crashed onto six lanes of the busy Tamiami Trail.
The bridge was still under construction and not open to the public, however, vehicle traffic continued to pass beneath the bridge. The cause of the collapse is unknown at this time, but is being investigated by the National Transportation Safety Board and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration.
Rescue efforts turned to recovery overnight as authorities expect to find no further survivors.
Florida International University intended for the bridge to save lives at the busy intersection, where there had been previous pedestrian fatalities.
“Yesterday’s tragic accident of the bridge collapse stuns us, it saddens us. It’s exactly the opposite of what we had intended, and we want to express our deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of those affected,” FIU President Mark B. Rosenberg said in a statement released on Friday.

I so sorry for the loss of so many precious lives. When I first learned of this my heart sank. I want to say thank you to all those I saw on the news helping out. In a time when people are being divided it's nice to see such compassion. To all the families I hope people will continue to pour out their love to you all. You do not have to repay the love shown because at Proverbs 19:17 The one showing favor to the lowly is lending to God, And He will repay him for what he does.

I can't imagine what a horrible accident this was for the victims that saw it coming and the people that saw it happening. At least the victims are in heaven but the people that saw it happen have a long road ahead of them.

This is such a horrible tragedy. Something that was meant to help people has caused such pain. Many times in situations like this, people search for answers as to why this happened, and was it from God. Please take comfort in the words of the Bible. Job 34:10. Jeremiah 29:11.
