Catherine Jackson Stancill passed away one year ago at home in Pasadena, at the age of 97. She was born in Mississippi and spent her young adult years in Washington, DC, where she met and married James McNeill Stancill, Jr. They moved to Pasadena in 1964 when Jim took a position at USC, where he taught for 45 years. Cathy, as she was known to friends, was a loving mother and wife. She and her husband were intrepid travellers. Cathy was active in the USC Town and Gown Association, the Chapman Woods Association, the Girl Scouts, and as a docent at the Gamble House. Cathy was a lively and friendly neighbor and a loyal friend. She is survived by her three daughters, Martha A. Stancill, Mary Stancill, and Christine Stancill, and by three grandchildren, James S. Leathers, John S. Leathers, and Marina Stancill
