ABELINO VELARDE JR. aka BIG AL OR GRANDPA, went to be with the Lord at the age of 76 on Feb. 10, 2016 peacefully in his sleep in Riverside, CA. Born in Los Angeles, CA. 4/24/39. Served in the Army, then lived in Norco, CA for 50+ years. Worked as Maintenance Tech at Green River Golf Course, retired 2003. Preceded in death by his son Albie Velarde. Survived by his wife Andrea; son Ronald, his wife Maria and grandsons Michael, Jay, and Cameron who will all miss his sense of humor and his smile that he was known for. A memorial service will be held at Lake Hills Christian Center, 12500 Indiana Ave., Riverside, CA. 92503 (951) 737-6680 Thursday, Feb. 25, 2016 at 6:30 p.m. A reception will follow the service. Please come and celebrate and remember Big Al's life. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Lewy Body Association or UCLA research. Grandpa, we love you and will always miss you, but we all know that being with Jesus is a far better place to be than here. We can only be happy for you. Don't worry, we'll see you again.
