Losing a loved one is not easy, but all of us who had a bit of Aunt Grayce in our lives can be grateful she had a long and full life. It was always a great treat to visit Aunt Grayce and Uncle Ed. I had a long phone conversation with Aunt Grayce before I left for the year in Hong Kong. She was as lively as always; it's a phone call I'm glad I made and will continue to treasure as time passes and my own time comes.

Grayce Was one of the most genuine people I have ever had the privilege to meet. Her home was indeed a haven of love and warmth. She and Ed both welcomed me in and shared their rich lives. I have never met a more honest and loving person. Grayce will always have a special place in my thoughts. Thank you.

This is a poem my mother wrote about her life many many years ago.
Home
Home is what you make it with tender loving care,
A place of peace and restfulness whenever you are there.

Home is Sunday dinner with a chicken in the pot,
Two noisy little girls and a boy who fight a lot.

Home is Hurry up there Mom, you know I leave at six.,
With no consideration for the rest of the meal to fix.

Home is Friday night with a movie on TV,
And Dad's quick trip for ice cream from our corner drug Thrifty.

Home is Easter morning with the cold day breaking through,
When we rise and go together and worship in our pew.

Home is packing up the car and going on a trip,
And camping on a lovely beach with glowing campfires lit.

Home is Thanksgiving Day with sweet smells everywhere,
And starting the day with Lemon rolls that usually are there.

Home is Christmas Eve with the tree all lit up bright,
How cold it always is when to church we go at night.

The pages could continue with so many little things,
That always go unnoticed till the final curtain rings.

It takes a good long lifetime to package a small home,
Why should it crush so easily when children start to roam?

A father understands these things and takes them in his stride.
A mother pulls a little as her strings become untied.

No matter what becomes of me, no matter where I go,
My husband and my children should understand and know,

That home is what I made it and I did my very best
And I'll love you with all my heart until I'm laid to rest.
