JANE L. PETERS LACKEY
1925 - 2017
Jane passed away on June 23, 2017 at the age of 91. She was born in Chicago, Illinois and graduated from Business College, She married her first husband, Joseph Peters, at nineteen and moved west with their first child, Susan. They eventually settled in Riverside, California and raised three children. A few years after Joe's death in 1971, Jane married Melvin Lackey, their close friend and business associate, She lost Mel to cancer thirteen years later. Sadly, Jane also lost her beloved first-born daughter, Susan, to cancer in 2010.
Jane worked as a secretary for many years in the Riverside area, first at Bourns Corp, then at the Agriculture Extension Service and Cal State Forestry, before retiring. She moved to Welbrook Senior Living community (formerly Olive Grove) in 2007 where she enjoyed the friendship of several residents and staff. Jane is survived by her children, Marty (Barbara) and Terri, four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, all of whom she cherished.
Jane was cremated in July according to her wishes. Her memorial service is scheduled for 11:00am, September 22, 2017 at Acheson & Graham Memorial Chapel, 7944 Magnolia Ave, Riverside, (951) 688-1221, followed by a catered reception, In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to American Cancer Society or a charity of your choice.
