Walt was a unique coach and person. He was obviously too small to be a star at football but was nothing short of inspiring to those of us he coached. I think of him in the same vein as Knute Rockne. He had us successfully running the single and double wing offenses at a time when winged T was the rage. He studied the sport of football and made it fun. A word of encouragement from Walt was all we need to inspire championship play. I miss him but carry his lessons with me, even at 75 today.

Nice gentleman. My dad graduated from Nebraska so he used to remind me of how great their football team was in season!
