Uncle T. D. you will certainly be missed! However, it's good to know we will meet again one day. As a kid, I remember coming to Houston every summer and getting to spend some fun time with you and my aunt and cousins. After I moved to Houston with my family you came over and taught me how to paint and even mixed the color to match my oven. I ended up painting my whole house over a period of time. Thanks to you!! We'll see you again one day!

My Uncle TD was such a big part of my life growing up. He was fun, witty, and had a solution to every problem. When I was little he saved me as I choked on a Lifesaver and then he aided my mom who had passed out cold. There are so many great memories to cherish but it's comforting to know we will see him again.

My Great Uncle and my Grandad's best buddy. Every time I watch Band of Brothers I pictured you as the Matthew Settle character running fearlessly through bullets to save your fellow soldiers. I don't think there could be a more profound experience in life than D-day and the European Theater, or rescue of Dachau. What a life, what a man.

David and Family -- I am certainly sorry for your loss. A true American hero, Mr. Thornton certainly certainly defined The Greatest Generation. May you find comfort in your memories, solace in your sorrow, and peace in His grace.

I only met you a couple of times long ago, but I could tell you were a fine father and grandfather. ....Our sincere condolences to the entire family. Find comfort in all the wonderful memories he left with you...

Oh, how I will miss my Uncle TD. Growing up, we never knew he was a war hero. He was just the one who entertained us, cleaned up after us, and made sure everyone was having a good time.

When I was about a year old -- before any of his kids were born -- Uncle TD liked to wag me around and spoil me. He bought me my first ice cream cone, and for some reason I used my chubby little hands to shove the ice cream in his face. He never let me live that down. About 15 years ago he sent me a gag gift for Christmas: a plastic ice cream cone.

How wonderful to know that my beloved uncle is now up in heaven, swapping stories with my dad, as they loved to do. I'll miss you Uncle TD ... see you in heaven some day.

Ted was my partner in the games we played and we usually won. He was one of the best men in my life. I will miss my brother-in-law but know he is in the presence of the Father. RIP Ted.

Everytime raindrops hit the window, I will think of you. You were the best granddaddy a girl could ever dream of. I will always keep enough material on my brush. Love you better than snuff.....your lil'dolly, Jennybug
