James Howell Obituary

James "Jimi" P. Howell, 67, of Carlisle, PA and Ponce Inlet, FL entered the gates of heaven on Tuesday, September 03, 2019. Born on October 13, 1951, in Carlisle, PA, he was the son of the late James C. and Donna (Snyder) Howell. Jimi enjoyed 41 years of marriage to his loving wife, Gwen (Sebring) Howell. He is survived by two children Paul J. (wife, Tabitha) Howell and Rebecca H. (husband, Shaun) Foote, 4 grandchildren, Andrew, Gabriel and Victoria Howell and Grayson Foote, all of Carlisle, and 2 brothers Mark E. (wife, Katrina) Howell of Charleston, SC and Richard K. (wife, MaryBeth) Howell of Carlisle. Jimi grew up in Carlisle and is a graduate of Carlisle Area High School and earned his AA decree at Wesley College in Dover, DE. He was a hard worker and an even better salesman. For 21 years, Jimi and Gwen owned and operated Howell's Harley-Davidson & Triumph Motorcycles. He was a motorcycle enthusiast, who has ridden a motorcycle in all 48 continental states. He took most of his vacations on a motorcycle…as he believed, there was no better way to see the country than with the wind in your face. Jimi was a member of Carlisle United Methodist Church (formally Grace) in Carlisle for many years and Port Orange United Methodist Church in Port Orange, FL. He was also a member of the Carlisle Fish and Game, Flagler Gun Club, The Turnpike Ramblers, Old Farts with Kick Starts, Masonic Lodge 260, Eastern Harley-Davidson Dealer Association, and was the Past President of Pennsylvania Motorcycle Dealer Association. Jimi enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling, reading and was a huge history buff. He traveled all around the world to watch Formula 1 races and enjoyed spending time with his many groups of friends. Visitation with the family will be from 9:00 -11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 14, 2019 at Waggoners United Methodist Church 1271 Longs Gap Road Carlisle, PA 17013. A memorial service will follow at 11am with Rev. Dr. Richard E. Denison officiating. Burial will be private and held at the convenience of the family at Westminster Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in his name to The Carlisle Salvation Army, 20 E Pomfret Street, Carlisle, PA 17013. So sorry to hear of Jim's passing. I know "Uncle Jack" enjoyed working @ the shop with Jim and Gwen doing all those "odd" jobs that need doing. Jim was a fun loving person and will be missed.

It was a pleasure to usher with Jim in Ponce Inlet and hear of his travels, especially to PA. I will remember him for his zest for life and family
