Kenneth R. Whisler, 85, of Hummelstown, passed away peacefully on March 23, 2020 in his home. He was born July 22, 1934 in Hummelstown, the son of the late Russel E. and Louise Hummel Whisler. He was the widower of the late Helen M. (Hess) Whisler and is survived by his three children; Dr. Timothy R. (Susan) Whisler of Chest Springs; Kendra Lynn (Jon) Rankin of Hershey and Kyle A. (Lisa) Whisler of East Berlin; two grandsons, Braden and Cameron Whisler; step-grandchildren, Kyle and Ashley Rankin of York; Holly (Rankin) Gassert of Mt Wolf; and 6 step-great-grandchildren. Ken was a 1952 graduate of Hershey High School, where in 1952 he was District II and Southeast Regional champion and PIAA State Semi-Finalist in wrestling. He was a United States Navy Veteran, and a graduate of West Chester University where he received his Bachelors and Master's Degree. He was a retired educator at the Newport and Manheim Twp. School Districts. Ken was a successful wrestling coach with a 30 year coaching record of 331 wins and 115 losses. He was inducted into the PA Wrestling Coach's Hall of Fame, District III Wrestling Hall of Fame and the Manheim Township Hall of Fame. In 2018, he was inducted into the Hershey High School Sports Hall of Fame. He was a past member of St. John Neumann Catholic Church, Lancaster, St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, Hershey, and Trinity United Methodist Church, Hummelstown. Ken was also a member of the Humane Society of the United States and the Disabled American Veterans. He enjoyed gardening, camping, travel, animals and his pets. Private interment will be in the Hershey Cemetery. A memorial service and celebration of life to be announced later. I still remember Tim and Kyle when I worked for LAS in 1989. I hope that you have peace and pleasant memories of your father as you mourn his death and remember his life.

I remember Mr Whisler very well as a teacher at Newport High School! Our wrestling team under his guidance gave us many exciting years! He will always be remembered at NEWPORT HIGH SCHOOL❤
