Major Lindsay "Pedro" Spencer, Jr. (U.S. Army, Retired), 74, of Lower Paxton Township, lost his valiant battle to COVID-19 and peacefully transitioned into eternal life on Friday, February 12, 2021 at the UPMC Pinnacle Community General Osteopathic Hospital. He was born in Steelton, son of the late Lindsay Spencer, Sr. and Annie Lee Benton Spencer, a graduate of Steelton-Highspire High School, attended West Virginia State University, retired from the PA Department of Revenue, former employee in the Real Estate Division of HERCO and former member of the Hershey Sertoma Club. Lindsay enlisted and completed basic training in the U.S. Army at the height of the Vietnam War, where he was deployed and stationed in Da Nang, Vietnam. A true soldier, he served in an area that was under heavy and relentless attack, assigned to train the South Vietnamese in combat. He graduated from Officer Candidate School (OCS) and attained the rank of Major prior to his retirement. He was a true soldier, wearing his Vietnam War Veteran cap proudly everywhere and was recently featured in the local news "Hometown Heroes' segment. He was a devout member of Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Church where he served on the Finance Council and was a Eucharistic Minister. In his leisure, he was an avid golfer, bowled in a league for over twenty years, enjoyed watching all sports, traveling, and spending time with his grandson and was a loyal & faithful friend to his inner circle. In addition to his parents, Lindsay was preceded in death by the love of his life and soulmate of 50 years, Alice P. Spencer and he leaves to carry on his legacy, his loving daughter & son-in-law, Shannon and Bruce Leib; his grandson, Dominic Salvatore Leib, all of Lower Paxton Township; his brother and sister-in law, Raymond, Sr. and Florence Spencer of Steelton and sister-in-law and brother in-law, Linda and Howard Miller of Lancaster and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews and cherished friends. Due to COVID-19 protocols, funeral arrangements were private and held at the convenience of the family. He will be interred at Fort Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. A Memorial Celebration will be held at a later date. The Family would be honored for donations to be made in memory of Lindsay Spencer, Jr. to Vietnam Veterans of America (VVA).
