Edna Jean Lundy Johnson
1937 - 2020
Edna Jean (Jeanne) made her transition from this world to the next on the afternoon of December 31, 2020 in Prescott, Arizona. She moved form Navarre, Florida to Prescott, Arizona in 2014 to be close to her sister Janet Lundy Preston, after she was diagnosed with lung cancer earlier that year. Jeanne recovered from the cancer: however, she was left without the ability to walk; she was chairbound for the final years of her life giving up her beloved tennis.
Jeanne graduated from Pensacola High School in the mid-fifties and went on to attend and graduate from Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri. She studied acting in New York at the Neighborhood Playhouse and performed in several off-Broadway plays before moving to California. Jeanne taught elementary school in Coronado, California for a number of years before moving back east to Atlanta. Jeanne came back to Pensacola and the beach in the late sixties to be near her parents, Mary Estes Lundy and Elijah Houston Lundy. She married Donald Johnson in Gulf Breeze in 1972 where she resided in Soundside for many years before moving to Navarre.
Jeanne is survived by her sister Janet in Arizona; nieces and nephew, Diana, Ashley and Thomas Preston in Montana and Colorado; her Estes and Lundy cousins, in Florida and Alabama; uncle and aunt, Dr. and Mrs. Herbert Lundy of Gulf Breeze; her former husband, Don Johnson; and her little dog, Pepper.
Jeanne now plays tennis every day on the clay courts of heaven with Bitsy chasing balls!
