Frances Kaythryne
Andrews
1921-2017
Frances Kaythryne Andrews (Mrs. M.L. Andrews), 96, passed away peacefully September 29, 2017 in Decatur, GA.
Frances was born in Florala, AL, but she lived most of her life in Pensacola, FL. She met her husband, M. L. "Andy" Andrews (CDR U.S. Navy) of 57 years there. She was the loving mother to two children, Gregory and Linda, and was a devoted Navy wife all of her life. The Navy life spurned her love of travel through opportunities to explore the world with Andy and her children. Their assignments led her and their family to California, Hawaii (pre-statehood), and Italy before she and the Commander retired to Pensacola in 1968. After retiring, Frances and Andy continued to travel to the Middle East, all of Europe, and the Caribbean. She delighted in serving others any way she could, serving with the American Red Cross for many years.
Frances loved gardening and was a member of the Pensacola Garden Club. She and Andy were avid bridge players and loved to entertain friends and family, especially during football season - Go Minnesota Vikings! Her husband Andy passed away in 2004, which led inevitably to her move to Tucker, GA to reside with her son and his wife.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Anna and Ed Foley and devoted and loving sister, Marie McVey (John), all of Pensacola, FL.
She is survived by her children, Greg Andrews and his wife Judy of Tucker GA; daughter, Linda Shropshire and her husband Perry of Memphis, TN; grandchildren, Kevin Andrews (Callie) of Brookhaven, GA and great granddaughter, Adelyn Andrews; Jeremy Andrews of Brookhaven, GA; Nicole Andrews of Jackson, MS; niece, Jan Woodbury (Bill) of Pensacola, FL; Julie McVey of Pensacola, FL; and Jeffery McVey of Houston, TX.
Never was there a day that mother complained or asked for help; her only wish was for everyone to enjoy each other and enjoy their life.
We deeply thank the staff at Sunrise Assisted Living of Decatur and Agape Hospice for the devoted care they provided to our mother; also A.S. Turner & Sons.
Visitation will be held 10:30am until a Memorial Service at 11:00am Monday, November 13, 2017 at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel in Pensacola, FL. She will be laid to rest with Andy at Barrancas National Cemetery, NAS Pensacola.
