Tomomi Simmons

Cantonment - The world lost a beloved Wife and Mother, Tomomi Simmons, on April 26, 2021. Tomomi battled lung and brain cancer, but it never stopped her from giving out her best hugs with a smile and laughter which was evident in her love for her children and her love for her pet border collies and plants.

Tomomi Simmons was born in Yokosuka City Japan, September 11, 1965. She claims to have learned everything she knew from her own loving Mother, Toshimi Abe.

Tomomi worked as a custodian on the Pensacola Naval Air Station. Her colleagues knew her as a kind soul, always willing to cheer everyone up with a bright beautiful smile and kind demeanor.

Tomomi is survived by her husband Roger Simmons of Cantonment, a daughter Tiffany Simmons, a son Jesse Simmons also of Cantonment and a grandson Kennedy Simmons-Morrison. She was preceded in death by her Mother Toshimi Abe of Yokosuka Japan and her Father Mamoru Murata of Kanagawa Japan.

Friends are invited to say a final goodbye at Tomomi's visitation on Saturday, May 1, 2021 at Pensacola Memorial Gardens Funeral Home from 9-11AM. There WILL NOT be a service scheduled at this time for her.

The earth has lost one of the most beautiful, gentle, and selfless souls that has ever walked it’s grounds. I never knew Tomomi’s name until I was an adult and even then it didn’t stick until several years later, as she was a second mom to me, and so much more. Her warmth and acceptance meant so much to me as a child, and she will always hold a very special place in my heart. Her love and kindness is felt and embraced by everyone who had the upmost pleasure of knowing this truly amazing woman. May you have peace knowing that she is above watching, guiding, and protecting over you all.

Tomomi will always have a special place in my heart. She was never known to me as Mrs. Simmons. She was always mom. And just like her own children, she spoke to me in Japanese. I would constantly have to remind her that I didn't understand a word she was saying. She always got a kick out of that. Made her smile from ear to ear. She was just one of those people. Even when we weren't speaking the same language at the time, I could still feel the warmth coming from her. From her smile and her laughter.

You will forever be missed. Rest in peace Tomomi.

I know Tomomi was the rock of the Simmons family, taking care of the home and family while Roger served the nation and his Sailors. I also know the great care and counsel she provided him, and therefore us, while we were at sea. You will all be in my prayers during this difficult time. May God bless you all and provide comfort. My deepest condolences, John Zuzich
