Warren Liddell Herron, Jr., M.D.

Pensacola - Warren Liddell Herron, Jr., M.D. age 83 of Gulf Breeze, FL passed away on April 1, 2021 after a valiant battle with cancer. He was born in Vicksburg, Mississippi to Warren Liddell Herron, Sr. and Esther Cuevas Herron. He grew up in New Orleans, LA and along the Mississippi coast. He graduated valedictorian of St. Stanislaus High, attended Tulane University, and University of Tennessee Medical School. His career was full, starting as USAF Flight Surgeon during the Vietnam War, completing Residency in Ophthalmology at University of Florida, and continuing as an Associate Professor where he obtained an NIH Grant in Retinal Research. He practiced Ophthalmology in Pensacola, FL for 50 years caring for his patients which he believed was his calling. He served on the Board of Health First Network and was a dedicated member of St. Paul Catholic Church.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

Warren is survived by wife of 59 years, Mary Lyllian Herron; son, Warren L. Herron III; daughter, Elizabeth L. Ballew; granddaughters, Dr. Brittani M. Corbisiero (Dr. Gregory C. Specht), and Hannah M. Ballew; brother, William Herron of Long Beach, MS.; and sister, Kay Smith of Kyle, TX.

We thank the kind staff at Covenant Hospice.

Private Family service with Father Eugene Pathe and burial at Barrancas National Cemetery.

Warren Herron's time with us was a huge benefit. I am convinced that his enduring dedication to his patients was matched only by his extraordinary and knowledgeable expertise in his field. I will always remember those opportunities to hear Dr. Herron's comments and insights. Faithful tears at his passing will forever testify to an exceptional and honorable legacy.
