It's been almost five years now. No matter how much time passes, I still remember Ellen. Words cannot express how much I miss her. She was taken from you far too soon. I still remember her like my sister. She was always genuinely interested in what I had to say, and I would listen with wide eyes to all of the experiences she told me about. Even something as small as teaching me and Matthew how to blow bubble gum sticks with me as one of my fondest memories. I think about her all the time, and I think about the both of you. I miss her so much. I hope you're well, and I'm so sorry for everything that has happened.

It's been a very long time, and I've grown so much, but I'll never forget you. I'll never forget your pretty hair and your kind smile, you were always so helpful despite me always being a little ball, bursting energy and the head strong belief that my writing was best in the class.

I'll miss you always, and I hope you're doing well up there.

I don't really know where else to express my thoughts but I am absolutely devastated by the news. There's nothing I can say that will comfort anyone that knew of Ellen's beautiful spirit. I still remember the first time Ellen called me to tell me we were going to be each other's first roommates at Penn State... we were both SO excited. We did not stay in touch over the past few years, but I got a Facebook request from her a few months ago and remember thinking how beautiful she was, how it seemed like she was so happy and how I missed her friendship. I'll always remember my first roommate, my first friend, and the first smiling face I saw at Penn State. Rest in peace.

Dear Mr. and Mrs. Greenberg,
I was Ellen's Spanish teacher at Susquehanna Twp. High School and learned of her death only on Monday night, via the TV. My ears perked up at the name and my heart felt instantly sick. Ellen was such a joy to teach and I see she similarly, she lighted up the lives of those she taught and those with whom she worked. I am pleased to see she became a teacher; I know she would have been an outstanding one. My heartfelt sympathy is extended to you and your family during this time of sorrow and grief. I will never forget Ellen. I sit here writing, yet in disbelief. Susan SImpler

I met Ellen in a class at Penn State. We started chatting and became friends. AS we got to know each other better, I saw that she was a great fit for a job with the football team which I was already doing; she was a natural fit. I'm disappointed that I didn't stay in touch over the past couple years. I am shocked and saddened by the news of her death. She was a beautiful person and will remain in my memory as such. May God comfort the Greenberg family.

Dr. and Mrs. Greenberg and family,

I am simply heart-broken over the tragic death of our beautiful Ellen. We met at Colonial; she was an aide stationed outside my room and had been waiting outside in the rain for a quite a while for her student. Despite being soaked when coming back in, her smile, freckles, and eye-lashes were so beautiful that when she looked at me and offered the friendliest "HI!" in her unforgettable raspy voice, I couldn't help but smile wider. We were instant friends and she was beautiful inside and out. We shared rides to work, days at the gym, and hours in my classroom. She could not wait to have her own! Being a good teacher... ... it consumed her! When not at school, we were over-the-top girlie girlfriends. She introduced me to and we shared a love for Purology and Wilton Armetale, two favs that will always keep her close to me. We discussed everything in between, too, including you and your traditional St. Kitts vacations she loved so much! She ADORED her family and the two of you like no other and lived to make you proud. I will remember her with mouthful of White Tiger sushi roll, wine glass in mid-air, eyes gigantic, still managing to smile…and look beautiful despite a mouthful of fish:)

My heart-felt love and prayers are sent to you unconditionally. May God give you the strength to awaken each day and continue the work Ellen started.

God bless you in this most difficult time.

Such a beautiful young lady to be taken from us. May God heal, give you strength now and during the future. My prayers are with you, I will always remember her beautiful smile and the loving way she spoke of her students. It was obvious that teaching was her true calling. She will be missed by so many.
