Pierre d'Estrube Obituary

d'ESTRUBÉ, Pierre François M.D. 1923 - 2017 Son of Alberta pioneers, Vic. High President, Valedictorian, WWII RCAF, M.D. general practitioner and psychiatrist. Husband, father, visionary, inventor, author, craftsman, activist citizen, a gentle man. Mostly he cared. And advocated; for the afflicted, the environment, and the archival record. Pierre was an undauntable completer of myriad projects, both personal and civic, many spanning decades; a man who strove perfection in all things. He taught us a lot about how to be and not to be. Predeceased by their beloved daughter Janine, he is survived by Shirley, his loving wife of 67 years, sons and daughters Rob (Cheryl), Margaret Huxtable, Nicky (Gary) Beedle, and Darcy. Grandchildren Tim (Tamsin), Andrew (Agnes) Chris and Jay Huxtable, Natalie (Teron) Moore, Lauren and Corey Beedle and 5 great-grandchildren. Our family extends special thanks and gratitude for loving patient care from the staff at Berwick House, a most compassionate Dr. David Woodley. Dr. Todd Yip, the staff at FLUC and long time tireless loving care companion Kate Thwaites. A celebration of Life will take place on Saturday, March 11 from 2 to 4 PM at the Union Club. I am saddened to see this news. He was a dear man. I am glad that I got to see most of the family just by chance when I was in Victoria a few years ago - it happened to be you were celebrating his birthday. I have so many happy memories of your family and loved babysitting at your house on Athlone. Love to all, Deanna (Dean) Cazes
