March 17, 2018 RIP Big Al.
We were 2nd Lieutenants in the Quartermaster Officers Basic Course, Ft Lee, Class 84-1. We were fresh out of college and getting a real paycheck. Many of us bought new cars. Big Al bought a two-door flashy sports car. Soon afterwards he broke his leg, and because of the cast, could not fit in his car. As always, he had lots of friends to give him rides.
Last time I ran into Big Al, was right before his Army War College. He was so excited because they played volleyball for competition. Being Big Al, he demonstrated his block shot and spike. We laughed.
