George Robin Harris
Smithfield - George Robin Harris passed away in his home on February 4, 2018, surrounded by his loving family and friends. He was 67 years old.
George was the son of the late George Henry Harris and Etta Odell Harris. He graduated from Augusta Military Academy at Fort Defiance, Virginia, as a Cadet Captain. He was a decorated Sergeant with the Portsmouth Police Department, retiring after twenty-nine years of service to the city. George was a Past Master of Portsmouth Midday Lodge No. 132 and Past Master of Smithfield Union Lodge No. 18 AF & AM. He was Past Patron of Tidal Wave Chapter No. 9 Portsmouth and Past Patron of Smithfield Chapter No. 127 Order of the Eastern Star. George was also a life member of Gosport Lodge No. 20 Fraternal Order of Police. He was a member of West End United Methodist Church.
George is survived by his beloved wife of 43 years, Donna A. Harris; his father-in-law Donald L. Anderson, Sr. of Chesapeake; and his sister-in-law, Susan Kemp of Shacklefords.
The family will receive friends for a visitation, with ceremonies by the Police Honor Guard, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 6, at Foster Funeral Home, 1926 High St., Portsmouth. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 7, at West End United Methodist Church, 1800 Rodman Ave., Portsmouth. Burial with Masonic Rites will follow at Olive Branch Cemetery, 2 Cpl. J. M. Williams Ave., Portsmouth. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in George's name to the Masonic Home of Virginia, 500 Masonic Ln., Richmond, VA 23223. Condolences may be registered at BWFosterFuneralHome.com.

Donna, I only got to talk with George a few times when I was at your home working. George invite me in one day and we talked for some time on all kinds of stuff. I really liked and enjoyed talking with him. He was a real kind and nice person. I'm very sorry for your loss. May God give you a great peace and love to fill your heart.
