Daphne G. Joynes

Chesapeake - Daphne G. Joynes, 97, of Chesapeake, VA. passed away Monday, January 29, 2018, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Birdsnest, VA. on March 3, 1920, to Elton and Amie K. Gladden, she was the second daughter of seven girls.

Daphne was predeceased by her loving husband Howell M. Joynes, Jr. (Buck)

She is survived by her daughter, Darlene and her husband Ray Whitehurst; her grandson, Scott Whitehurst; and his wife June; her great-granddaughter, Sydnee E. Whitehurst; great-grandson, Gabriel R. Whitehurst; and two sisters, Sara Gladden Twisdale and Vivian Gladden Scott.

The funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 3, 2018, at Fox & James Funeral Home in Eastville, VA with a viewing from 10:30 to 11 am. Interment will follow the service at Red Bank Cemetery, Marionville, VA.

The family would like to thank the staff at Georgian Manor for their tender love and care.
