James Albert Harris
Chesapeake - James Albert "Jim" Harris, 67, passed away on March 5, 2018, unexpectedly.
He was born in Martinsville, Virginia to the late James Albert and Bessie Harris. Jim was employed at Heco Slings for over 35 years where he had wonderful friends. He was very involved in youth sports coaching and served as the President of Indian River Pony Baseball League for numerous years. He will always be remembered for his hard work and kind heart.
Left to carry on his memory are his children, Christopher Harris, Molly Kannan, Jamie Pratt and Victoria Mela Harris; grandchildren, Hunter, Devin, Blake, Lea, Brooke, Ashlyn, Noah, Cole; one great-grandson, Asher; sister, Jane Farrar; brother, Barry Harris and wife, Cindy, with many nieces and nephews; and his extended family and dearest friends, Harvey Howlette and wife, Patricia, and daughters, Kelsey and Alexis.
A memorial service will be held at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Great Bridge Chapel, Chesapeake, VA on Thursday, March 15, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers the family asks for donations to be made in Jim's name to The American Cancer Society. Many years have passed, but fond memories linger. Many Indian River years of baseball are fond memories. Jim babysitting Chris and Mollie/ Those were the good old days. With sincere sympathy.

It is with great sadness that we say our goodbyes to Jim. He was a part of our family. Jim was there to celebrate Christmas and special family events with us. Jim was a long time friend of Herb's and became a special person to me and my family 14 years ago. R.I.P.
