To the Carson Family,

On behalf of the Charleston Base SUBVETS and Swamp Fox Chapter SUBVETS WWII, I offer you our sincere condolences on William's passing. We grieve with you on the loss of your loved one and our shipmate. The SUBVETS will have your family in our thoughts and prayers. There is no expiration date on the back of our dolphins and William, who earned his 'fish' when he qualified on USS NATHANAEL GREENE SSBN 636, will always be remembered as a Brother of the Phin and a great Patriot.

Pat, Drew, and family, I first met Bill when we served together as Tactics instructors at Submarine School in 1976. No matter how early I arrived each morning, he was always there to greet me - causing me to wonder if he ever went back to his home on Pachaug Pond. He was dedicated to his students and his mission to turn out the best submarine department heads.
Many of the Force leaders into the next century would remember him and the lessons that he taught so well. i know for a fact that he brought that same dedication to the Virginia Beach School System. We will remember Bill as a man of warmth and friendly spirit. He will be missed.
