Alan Robert Buettner

Alan Robert Buettner, born April 29, 1978, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Reno, Nevada, on Tuesday, August 4, 2020. Alan graduated from Appleton North High School, Appleton, Wisconsin, in 1996. He lived a life of service and achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. His Eagle Scout designation provided Alan the opportunity to work for both Philmont Scout Ranch and Florida National High Adventure Sea Base. He began his life "out West" when he started his job at North Star Ski Resort at Lake Tahoe in 2001. He fell in love with the mountains and the abundant outdoor activities like biking, snowboarding, skiing, snowmobiling, hiking, fishing, and trail riding on his dirt bike. He lived the remainder of his life in the Lake Tahoe area. He was a boiler technician for D&D Plumbing Inc. for the last 6 years. He is survived by his mother Elaine (Mac) Womack, his father Lyle (Beth) Buettner, his two brothers Elliott and Neil, his stepsister Christina (Ashley) Martin, his two stepbrothers Hans (Nora) Korth and Mitchell (Amanda) Korth, a grandmother Carol Edwards, and his very special friend Amy. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews. He loved being outdoors and through the pursuit of his many outdoor hobbies, he developed a network of very close friends that were considered his "Reno" family. We will all miss his generous spirit and his brilliant, infectious smile. The family is planning a celebration of life on May 1, 2021, in the Lake Tahoe area.

I am sorry Lyle and Beth. I have such great memories of Alan as a friend from High School. He taught me so much about camping and outdoor sports that I still enjoy today. We were close through High School and College and lost touch in our 30s but I still hold our memories and his friendship dear. He always had a smile, was a patient teacher, and a great traveler partner! Adventure was guaranteed with Alan. He surrounded himself with fun-loving and friendly people and I enjoyed meeting his friends when visiting him in Tahoe.
He will be missed by many I am sure, as he was such a great friend and hard worker.
Love to you all. I'm so sorry.

I met Alan through a mutual friend Katie Rosenthal-Mayer. I spent some time with him in Lake Tahoe and almost moved into a camper in his back yard in my early 20s! He was an awesome awesome person and I really enjoyed all of the sightseeing and snowboarding with him. He actually taught me how to drive stick shift...in the mountains....with his Audi! I always wondered if I had ruined his car. I have not seen him in years, however I am very sad to hear this news. May he live on in all of our many many memories of him! Until we met again Alan, farewell.

I knew Alan as a customer of his and D&D Plumbing. Paula and I really enjoyed his recent visits to our house, where we always knew he would do an excellent, high quality job. We trusted him and liked him very much. Our sincere sympathies are extended to Alan’s family and friends.

Lyle & Beth, just wanted to say how very sorry I am in the loss of your son Alan. I always said it is never right for a child to die before a parent. I want you to know that I will have you in my thoughts and prayers in the days ahead. Remember this that God's got alan in his heavenly kingdom and he is your guardian angel watching over all of you.
